The Art of Listening

"The best jewelry doesn't just look beautiful. It feels like nothing at all."

She Kept a Folder

Before LOTTEDS, Livia spent 12 years on the other side of the jewelry counter. She wasn't a designer. She wasn't a CEO. She was the woman answering the phone when a customer's engagement ring turned her finger green. She was the one opening emails from people who had saved for months to buy a "luxury" necklace — only to develop a rash they couldn't explain.

She kept a folder. In it: hundreds of photos of irritated skin, disappointed faces, and the same question repeated over and over — "Is it me? Am I allergic to jewelry?"

The answer was never "you." It was the brass. The nickel. The industrial fillers that fast-fashion jewelry brands use because they're cheap. Livia knew this. She had tried to explain it to her employers for years. Nobody wanted to change — because changing meant spending more on materials. And that meant smaller margins.

Livia's Vision
"She wasn't trying to build a jewelry brand. She was trying to answer 12 years of unanswered questions." — The LOTTEDS Origin

From Kitchen Table to Atelier

In 2019, the company she worked for closed its doors. Livia — a single mother with two children and $3,200 to her name — had a choice: find another job answering the same calls, or finally build the answer herself.

She chose the answer.

With her friend James Watson, a software engineer who believed in her vision, LOTTEDS was born in April 2020. The first pieces were assembled at her kitchen table between homeschooling sessions. Every chain was tested on her own skin first. If it caused even the faintest irritation, it didn't ship.

Her breakthrough came when she discovered 316L stainless steel — the same biocompatible alloy used in surgical implants. Strong. Hypoallergenic. Unreactive. By pairing this medical-grade material with the aesthetics of high jewelry, she created something unprecedented: pieces that looked like heirlooms but felt like nothing at all.

Craftsmanship

The Design Collective

Livia didn't want to design alone. She sought out Bob — a designer known for his deep study of Rome's architectural jewelry traditions — along with a collective of independent artisans who shared a single obsession: translating iconic aesthetics into wearable, skin-safe masterpieces.

From the fluid elegance of the Snake Collection to the bold geometry of the Rollers, every LOTTEDS design begins with a question: "How do we honor this silhouette while making it better for the person wearing it?"

Our designers don't copy. They interpret. Each piece is an original creation — inspired by the great jewelry houses of history, but executed with modern materials that those houses never had access to.

The LOTTEDS Difference

What the Industry Does What LOTTEDS Does Instead
Uses brass or copper as a base metal — cheap, reactive, turns skin green 316L Stainless Steel — surgical-grade, nickel-free, biocompatible. Zero green marks. Period.
Thin flash plating that fades in weeks PVD Vacuum Plating — a molecular bond of 18K gold that lasts for years, not months
Mined diamonds with opaque supply chains Lab-Grown Diamonds & Moissanite — ethically created, fully traceable, chemically identical
Mystery markups and retail overhead Direct-to-you pricing — you pay for materials and craftsmanship, not a brand name
Rigid policies when things go wrong We're not done until you're smiling. Returns, replacements, and concierge support — no drama
